Art Classes for Children ages 5-14
School Year 2011 – 2012
Standard Studio Neptune Classes are conducted throughout the school year in four eight week sessions in this order: DRAWING, PAINTING, MIXED MEDIA and 3D ART. Classes are offered to ages 6-8, 8-11 and to middle school students. Although it is advantageous for a student to experience all the different mediums, techniques and ideas that are presented in our studio from September to June, no one session is a prerequisite for another. Please also note that our classes are intentionally limited in size, therefore seats in upcoming sessions can not be reserved without registering.
Scribbler’s Society is Studio Neptune’s new introductory workshop just for age five. This one day free workshop is a great way for a student to get to know our studio before beginning the regular sessions of art classes at age six. Five year olds will enjoy learning about the elements of art through exciting projects designed especially with their skills in mind. Monthly workshops begin in January of 2012. Please fill out our registration form and simply submit by clicking on the REGISTER button. Workshops are limited to six students. If you submit a registration form and the class has filled we will contact you, otherwise assume that your seat has been reserved.
SUMMER 2012! Every summer a variety of downtown Bethesda businesses are selected for a visit where we can observe their visual components, products and activities. Each week we will visit a different business and for the entire week produce art which is inspired by where we’ve been. Students will naturally link creativity to a wide range of activities and images that exist every day in the city.
Our classes meet for three hours M-F and children are encouraged to bring a snack each day. Class times are either 9-12 Noon or 1-4 PM. Please note that most of our summer program is for ages 8-12. Classes for ages 6-8 are available during the mornings of 3 – 4 of our summer weeks. Please be certain you are signing up for an age appropriate class for your child. Due to the intimate environment of these classes, enrollment is limited. The program is popular and seats fill rapidly. Waiting lists are available. Registrations are non refundable unless there is someone on a waiting list who can take the seat, in which case a full refund will be made.
Schedules and registration for the 2011-12 school year and Summer 2012 appear on the next page. Registration is ongoing, on a first come first served basis and there are no prerequisites to sign up for a class.
Please note our refund policy: payment for a registration is due upon registering. If your child can not attend a session, refunds are only issued if the class has a waiting list and someone else is able to take the seat. It is also possible to switch class days if there is room available or if the class you signed up for was cancelled due to insufficient registration. Class cancellations are rare and if the studio plans to cancel a class you will be notified at least two weeks prior to the start of the class. If a class is cancelled which you have paid for, a full refund will be made if another seat is not obtained.
